Sorry for your dilemma, but it's good you're brave enough to put her out of her misery. If she's that flighty it would be difficult to get her to stay calm long enough to heal, and would probably push it right back out.
I can't be much help with the prolapsed vent but can provide an easy solution to catching her. Buy a big sturdy fishing net with a long handle, it works very well and not much chasing or stress.

Blondie would do EXACTLY that and freak out so much that she'd just push it back out if someone so much as looked at her, much less try to touch her. That would be misery to be that much pain for days, and I'm not about to put her through that. I've been playing the "what if" game, and need to stop doing that right now.
