who needs an incubator when you have a yard full of broody hens!!!!!!!

this white cochin is bound and determined to sit in that box no matter what i do. dh still says no turkeys, sorry turkeybreeder, no turkey eggs for me. i would like to hatch something that i could keep maybe one or two of. i convinced my kids this morning to sell at least 3 of the adult chickens to make room for the newbies in the garage. i'd really like to not be over 20. shocking, i know. but i have a coop space issue. i wouldn't mind getting rid of the roo, he is really damaging some of their feathers. i can tell who he favors, but with that hawk around, i feel a little better keeping him. good thing i don't have any bantys!

We started off with 3 chickens, and now have 14. Last night I tried to hint to my husband that if he wants new golf clubs, he needs to build me two new coops first. I am becoming a monster.

OMG OMG

I was so bad and candled an egg - was supposed to wait until Saturday. Candled one a few days ago has eye spot and veins ... but today (day 5) I did another one from the other side of the bator and it has TWO little chicken embryos in it about half a centimeter apart!!!! So happy I numbered each egg so I know which one it is! I have read they don't usually hatch but I sure hope it does!!!!! I will be so bummed if it doesn't hatch. We SO need like 2 or 3 more incubators now - LOL!

Hmmm, I might only ask for one coop! Really though building the coop was NOT his favorite thing to do, so probably would have to ask to purchase one! There is a really super cute coop for sale on Craigslist right now ... if it was not so obviously a chicken coop (because of neighbors), I would buy it in a minute!!! (maybe midnight delivery is possible)
