Arizona Chickens

I had no idea how true that was!!!

I decided to do a test hatch of my own eggs. They are hatching today! I really didn't know how it would turn out so I didn't candle any of them. I woke up to 7 chicks in the bottom of the Incubator with another half dozen pips. This is my third hatch in the incubator but this is the first time I hatched my own eggs. Wife keeps giving me looks and asking me what I am going to do with more chickens. I think she was hoping they didn't hatch. Any one need some chicks?

I think the emu farm up by Picacho sells eggs......But I shouldn't be enabling!

Did you mean the Ostrich ranch? No emus there as far as I know.

There's a couple here in Cochise County that raise emus, and I talked with them last year when I was exploring emus myself. I forget how much they wanted for hatching eggs, but remember it was much less than those offered elsewhere online.

(BTW I'm saving emus for when I retire and can hobby farm full-time.)

Yes, the Ostrich Ranch. Some one told me once they had emus also. I haven't actually stopped to look myself. They are sort of a blur at 75 (+) mph.

I'll ask the folks who sell emu stuff at market tomorrow if their supplier has hatching eggs. Might be the same Huachuca City folks, but might not.

Yes, I have a few Australorps and many Australorp/Delaware crosses just over a week old, and I'll be setting more eggs tomorrow for hatching around April 16th. (I'm keeping the pure Delawares.) The 'Lorps are gorgeous but the Dels are hit-and-miss (just started with them). I haven't raised any mixes, but the chicks are vigorous and getting big fast!

[email protected] if you want to discuss on the side...

Our Marans girl is 6 months old and has been laying about a week. You know the pullet eggs are kind of small, but today she layed a REALLY big one. I took a picture of the egg she layed yesterday next to the one she layed today. Look at the difference!
