If you need two more buff brahma bantams, let me know ... I decided I'm going to find a home for them ... then they could have other buff brahma bantams to run around with.

They are so neat! They don't even seem like chickens, not that chickens aren't neat. We would love your buff brahma bantams! My hubby is about to build a bantam pen.

I'm in Gilbert ... don't know how often you come up to Phx area ... but let me know. I have two buff brahma bantams, one is a micro mini - smaller than my 7 week old Seramas right now - they are about 6 weeks old.

I'm half-way through the thread you pointed out and I read all of the info from another source that was posted within that link (It was good!). I set everything up the night before last. I used an old liter box with a cover and a nice vent in the top that my cats never liked so it sat for years in the garage (no stink). I put a board up to cover the bottom of the north end of the coop to make it dark like where the nest boxes are too. After sundown I put the hen in the box over a couple unfertilized eggs and she took to them right away. She didn't leave the nest at all yesterday. As soon as it got dark enough last night I took the unfertilized eggs away and put fertilized eggs under her. I also gave her food and water and put a wire barrier up, which is easily removed but keeps the other hens from getting into the broody box. I'll probably put a small section of hardware cloth along the bottom of the wire barrier to keep chicks from escaping. My plan is to keep her in this area for at least three days after the eggs hatch (if they do

). If anyone sees any potential problems with my arrangement, please let me know.

Wow! Your broody area is gorgeous! (So is your coop/run! Makes mine look very sad.) Congrats on finding the eggs you wanted! Haven't quite gotten mine yet, but should set soon. I moved Vader to her broody area (dog kennel) last night. She is still sitting tight this AM, so it is looking promising. I am beginning to think Betsy's eggs will not hatch since she has constantly been letting one or two roll out and get cold. She is on day 20...so we shall see soon. In anticipation of any potential chicks, I made a "chick creep" this weekend from some scrap wood to keep the big ladies out of the starter mash and chick waterer. Hopefully, we will see how it works soon.

Here is the broody kennel and chick creep. Vader is in the far right metal bucket, which I moved into the kennel last night.

Her is a close up of the chick creep. The bottom rail is 3 inches off the floor. (My best guess as to an appropriate height.)
