I have 11 Delawares just a week old. I will let you know as soon as I can sex them if I have a roo. I have another set of hatching eggs coming in from CA tomorrow and will have Delawares in about 25 days if this batch doesn't have anything to offer.

Last chance
to add to the Jeffers vaccine order I am placing at 10 am! Sorry to be a pest but Gallo's babies are due to hatch and we have to place the order.

AZdreamer - I got your PM, you are on the order.

My friend, Greta, went to a wedding in Phoenix this weekend. Not a big deal until you consider that she went by pdx2phx's place and brought me her 3 Japanese Bantams!!!! Thanks again, Lisa! We are so excited to have them. My 12yo has been begging me for some of this breed for months, and she was thrilled to see they were even her favorite color in the breed. The girls are ADORABLE!!! She named them Greta (which is the skinny tail one, in honor of my friend that brought them), Sushi, and Osaka. We have so enjoyed watching them. The three of them move as if they are one unit. It is the funniest thing. If one eats, they all eat. Their little sounds are so neat. Even their tiny little combs are adorable. We put the silkie in the coop with them, but in a cage. All 3 attacked the cage. This morning we let her out of the cage. There seems to be some arguing, but nothing like yesterday. I think it will work out well. The Japanese ladies are super broody, and I hope to get them some eggs to hatch at some point. We are going to have so much fun with these girls! They are still pretty skittish, but I doubt that will last once they are comfortable here, especially with my kids doting on them constantly. Here are some pics of my 3 oldest girls and the new girls:

arizona dreamer--I am sorry about your broken eggs. My silkie does this. If you find a solution, please share it. Someone once told me that we should just eat her, but we can't do that!!!!

It is so good to have another southerner around! We moved here from TN, so it is good to still refer to myself as a southerner. Of course, I must be from the deep south. I doubt anyone here is as far as we are, but I will lump myself in with the Tucson folks.

Constance, Gallo, Laree, et al.--I am really struggling to know what to do with the vax. I am sure I missed today's order. I don't know what I should get. I am guessing since all of them came from a feed store that they have been vaccinated for Marek's, right? Here's the deal: I barely even vaccinate my kids. They get none until they are 2, and then only one a year. I don't trust the ingredients in them. I surely don't want to overvaccinate our chickens, either. I want our eggs to be as healthy as possible. Deciding what to do with my kids was SOOOOO hard! I don't have it in me to go through the same process with chickens. Anybody else out there conservative with vaccs have any advice?

leslierf--I am super impressed that you were able to make a welcome into a haiku!
