Anyone else's chickens slowing down in their laying this week? I'm not sure if something is going on (like egg eating) or if my girls are all slowing down at the same time. After deducting my 4 broody, non-laying hens (1 barnevelder, 1 Partridge Plymouth rock and 2 Ameraucanas), I still have 15 laying hens, but only got 6 eggs today and the same yesterday. About a week ago, I was getting 10-12 per day (of course that was counting the eggs from the 4 broodies, but still.... In the past 2 days, I only collected 1 blue egg, but I have 4 Blue Egg layers that are not currently broody.

Many of my hens are non-production type and 3 of them are 2 1/2 years old, so they won't lay as many eggs as young BPR, RIR, Leghorns, etc. but I still think 6 is a small number for 15 hens.

Last week I was getting a dozen a day. Today... 6.

BUT... I did sell two marans and it just so happened that they were two of my layers of very dark eggs... Oh well, I need to make room for my Easter Hatch Icelandics.

Bob, we are not that fast

. I promise to keep you posted. I'll ask you for the angle iron and maybe shaft when we get closer. We lately have overnight visitors every weekend. That kinda keeps you from getting projects done... This is not going to stop until after July 4. Guess we have too many attractions (chickens, chickens and more chickens of various ages)
