I do. I think my mottled ones are bearded. My MF ones are too, but I will have to double check.

The kids didn't like GrimLogen. They just started calling her NekkidButt.

Installed a fan in my coop yesterday. All that is missing now is a TV. I guess the chickens will have to share their villa when I have guests over...

just make sure that you put up a flatscreen with a remote (that has large buttons), to save space in the coop

All d'uccles are bearded. Booted bantams are not. Otherwise the standard is almost identical.

Works for me!

Okay everyone, what do you do about flies? Everybody chime in here, need help. Don't know where they are breeding, only know there's a half a million baby flies. Compost is fine, coop is fine, picking up after the dog every day, trash cans are fine.

The flies you see are emerging from the soil, from where they crawled as larvae and pupated some time ago. I use the plastic bag types of fly traps around the compost area (the ones with the yeasty mixture inside that REALLY stinks). We still occasionally get terrible outbreaks that last a couple days in late spring, but we haven't had any recently. I think that next spring I'm going to use nematodes, they'll attack the fly larvae as well as the Japanese beetle grubs. Here are some fly control options that shouldn't be harmful to your chickens: http://www.arbico-organics.com/category/organic-pest-control-fly-control

All six are in the henhouse. The four biggest are on the roost while the silkies are hanging out at the pop door. They're quiet, a lot quieter than they were in the tractor and brooder. I'm guessing they're liking the new quarters.
