Arizona Chickens

She is looking for some for me to hatch for her. Let us know when you have some, thank you

Yup. In September.

LOL it might take that long for the girls to get laying well enough because they still have another week or so for the eggs they are on to hatch, and then I don't know if they will lay eggs again until after they are done raising the babies.

are you saying your seramas are broody?

Well we had a ligt, but steady rain for about half an hour late afternoon/early evening. Went to dinner at the Cornish Pasty Company (YUM!!!) and saw lots of lightening to the NW and also to the east both going and coming. Quite a spectacular lightening show. Got home sometime after 9. I fell asleep in front of the TV to be awakened by a HUGE storm that lasted for a LONG time. All together we got nearly an inch. And of course I got soaked both time bringing birds up onto the porch. And in the storm, bailing water off the tarp roofs of 3 coops.

Showing off a few of my Icelandics....the girls did not want their picture taken.

We hardly got any rain last night but had fun watching the lightening over the valley, looked like some places were getting it bad.

OMG yes, all four hens are sitting on 3 eggs. They are super hissy and grumpy. I'll have to get a picture.

Mine hate the mister or getting wet at all, they wont go by the big ice blocks i put out for them either. all I can do is hose off some dirt and keep their water cool and clean.

Mine are all wading during the hot parts of the day. I've been going out three times, about noon, three and seven to change the wading pools out for cool, fresh water. Every time I change it out it becomes a free for all for the pool.
Today I saw the funniest thing. There happened to be some broken half egg shells in the scrap bucket that goes to the chickens, then into the composting garden. Well, one of the now gigantic ( should have been butchered two weeks ago), Cornish cross Pullets, grabbed an eggshell half and started running around with it, a bunch of the other chickens chasing her while she was squawking and clucking. Didn't know she could go that fast!

She must have thought she got the toy out of the cracker jack box!

GROWL!!! STUPID Cooper's Hawk! Hadn't seen it in quite some time. Hoped it had migrated.

No, none lost, but it showed up today and has curtailed the free ranging that I was beginning to allow the birds. The Pebbles (baby barred rocks) are MOST upset. They really, really liked being able to roam the yard, (and trying to break/sneak into the house every time the door opened).

My one open pen will have to be abandoned for the moment as it stopped for a moment to roost in the tree right next to it.

Spent a few frantic minutes (well, an hour) grabbing all the free-rangers and tossing them into cages or covered pens.

My entire flock, all in 1 photo (or actually 2 flocks, since this was the first time the babies joined the big girls for a snack of scratch). The 12 babies are all around the perimeter of the flock - trying to sneak in a a few bites before being chased off. I still have to weed out a few a bring my numbers down, but it's so hard to choose.

I noticed postings of EEs earlier -- Here are my newest ones (Easter Egger Bantams only 13 weeks old). There's only 5 of them, but I had the hardest time trying to get them all into 1 photo:

And the only other EE I ended up keeping, after hatching some of Mahonri's pretty Ameraucanas:
