I had that happen with chicken once. I raw packed it and the chicken was a little too cold when I put it in the canner. I hate wasting food (and the jar) like that.

We've been out of applesauce for quite a while. Need to find a weekend to get some done. Enjoy yours! Yum

Wow!
Just sprinkles today here.

Did you get much of that rain today? Boy the sky to the east and south was black!

Gallo,
What area are you in? Close to?

I'm off of Silverlake, not far from A mountian.

I'm just east of Reid park. It rained HARD for a good three hours. I haven't been out to check containers that will tell me how much we got, but I suspect nearly 3" fell here. Have you seen the Santa Cruz river on the news? It's raging. Some guy was washed away in it this afternoon too.

I just saw that the 2.83" was the official measurement at the airport. Many places in town received more than 3". Even if we get no more rain this monsoon season, 2011 will go down as the 10th wettest monsoon in Tucson history. Because of the rain we got today, we finally have a surplus of 0.38" over the average for the first time in years. Apparently, the town is a disaster area with the rain and storm damage.

There was some talk about a group feed buy a while to save a little $$ and wondering if anyone has taken it any further? I see there is a mill in Laveen, but having trouble finding others. I am paying 14.50 for #50 right now and it is cramping things a bit as we only have one flock laying full time with pullets starting the squat and eating lots of pellets. We are going through #100 a month right now and that is likely to increase as it cools down and laying picks up.

I am in the far West Vally on HWY 60 (Grand Ave.)

I was watching the storm and it didn't seem to move, it just sat there! Like I said all we got was a hard sprinkle. If your not far from Reid park, I can see how you got so much of it. It was just black that way!

I haven't seen any news yet, but hubby heard of a swift water rescue on the radio. Never fails, every year someone goes in that river.

I live 2 min. from it, can see it out my living room window. But didn't get a chance to walk over and look today. I'm near Mission and Silverlake.

My son and I hike in the river all summer, but i'm very cautious during monsoons!

10th wettest! Wow!!! Been here all my life, and it sure was a strange summer!

Hubby said a huge portion of Valencia was shut down this evening.
