Looking like the bald girls we rescued were not "just wormed" as we were told.... They are really pooping out some worms. Geeeeeze my soft heart gets me in trouble sometimes and I will stick with folks here for getting hens that "have to go" because so far the hens I got from Noel a while back are pooping clean as a....er....whistle so far so may not have had any issues, but a few of our own flock also are expelling some worms, but some not yet that are visible.

Thanks Noel for being so careful about hens you share!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

Yes I have been chasing fresh poop this afternoon after letting them out to free range after treatment late afternoon yesterday.....

Been quite a spell for a worm episode here and hope to avoid it anytime soon again and may give Will's advise a try as any natural way is better than chemical as a preventative, but if you know you have them Valbazen will kick serious worm butt.....

My Valbazen hasn't even shipped yet.
I gave them peppers again today, though.
I have never taken in any chickens other than 2 day olds so mine are probably from the wild birds.
One good thing about all this is the treadle feeder has moved up on the "to do" list. (It's still not at the top though)

If you want to drive up this way tomorrow I'll give you enough for your first dose.... I am on Grand Ave between Wickenburg and Surprise (at work) all day and glad to help.

Thanks Gallo....

The BA's even have new feathers now and others are showing pins and getting rid of the darn worms should help considerably.

By the way have some nice healthy Tomato plants from the SD and.... forgot the name of the other in small paper packet, but they are growing very well and will flower soon. We are pretty good at keeping them going in winter covering with blankets when looks to be too cold so it they are hardy they should be giving up tomatoes when one shouldn't be harvesting them in most places....

Ok...what is it with worms lately? Some of my girlies seem to have them (tapeworms) again. I did use Panacur that was prescribed by my vet but I am now thinking I need to get Valbazen. Where is the most cost effective place to get this? Cheaper than a prescription from my vet or ordering online?

I have enough to last me about 5 years if you want to come get some..... I get mine online and bought 1 liter this time so have allot more than I need and willing to share it.

At .5 ml per hen it doesn't take much.....
