VERY Interested! Unfortunately, my neighbors are not. I live smack dab in the center of the city so an roo is illegal and out of the question.

Which is funny, because 3 houses down or thereabouts, there is a guy that raises roosters, exclusively.... Everyone knows they are there and doesn't care. We hear them crow all day long. But I am the type that would never get one because I don't want the scrutiney on the rest of my operation.

I know that Aden's Hay Oasis is getting Silkies and Polish in February 12. I was waiting for them but not anymore...WAHHHHHH

Some of our neighbors last night said they were all in favor of us having our hens. They could not believe the Board over turned their deciion. They were going to get some too! I guess we had more support then we realized but getting beat up like that in the meeting really hurt my hubby and I

. I am so lucky to have a good home for them to go to! I will just be happy to go and see them ocassionally and buy their eggs!!! !!!!!

Mahonri - I forgot to mention how sweet the new pullets are - they don't seem scared of me at all anymore and will stand still for me to touch them or pick them up. So far, they seem to be taking turns laying eggs - they've been here 5 days and I've gotten 5 eggs from them (there has been 1 egg per day in their nest box.)

I really want to incubate the eggs they lay this week and David has offered to make an incubator for me, but... he's out of town till Friday. He's going to have to work fast and I'm going to have to find something on craigslist to use. We were looking for an ice chest, but I just found that someone made a working incubator out of a 10 gallon aquarium. I have one of those already! Will let you know what happens.

I love this picture, love the look on the chickens...kind of looks like my chickens two weeks ago with all the snow everywhere

Thanks for sharing

Well, the silkies are for a friend of mine that lives in Vegas. She as looking for some. I talked with her today and she is undecided. If I could get details, I can forward it to her and she can decide what she wants. I am thinking that she wants a hen and a roo... color isn't so important at this point.

I have my run covered in 1" chicken wire and the little buggers still squeeze thru ... mostly where it's pulled tight. At least the doves and pigeons can't get it, right?
