Chick eggs go into lock down tonight. 5000 meal worms came in the mail. Valentines marketing stich at work on Friday night. Chile Verde to make for Hatching Brunch on Saturday morning. House still a mess.

That's why I'm sitting at my computer with a bowl of Beef Stew and a glass of wine

Aww... you are so sweet! I'm going to wait on getting new chickens. We just made an offer on a house (OMG) and we might be moving soon. I want to wait until things get settled before we get chickens.

Chickens love wild mustard. They also love the globe mallow, or cheese weed. In Spanish they call it malva. There is something in these weeds that really make the hens lay. They also love careless weeds which are supposed to be poisonous, but so far none have died.

In a good wet year, you can really cut down on your feed bill just by clearing the weeds from the alleys and vacant lots. Unfortunately, we have not had a lot of rain this year.
