Well guess what? I dont know how he is doing it but my bantam cochin roo is fertilizing the large girls. I guess they always find a way

So Im going to try hatching out some Australorp x frizzle cochins and BO x frizzle cochins. See what we get

The only one he hasnt been able to fertilize is the EE. Not for lack of trying though

I think my OEGB is broody. I tossed her out of the nesting box twice yesterday, and collected her egg. At 9pm she climbed back in there, determined to hatch herself a couple of golf balls. I don't mind letting her try, but she has only been laying 4 weeks! And the OEGBs are POWERHOUSE layers. They never take a day off, and the eggs are huge for the little soda-can-sized bird. I think (technically) they outlay the EEs. So, maybe I will give her a couple of Aloha eggs and see what she does---

Or, should I put a few of the already hatched chicks under her? Would she even notice they were the fastest hatching golfballs ever?

I think this might be my last day for collecting eggs then they go under the broody. She will be broody almost a week now (bout 4-5 days so far).

Yeah, it is not like they are terribly smart. If she had hopped in there a few days earlier, she'd be hatching turds.

I bet she could set at least 3 regular eggs, or a bunch of her own. I know she is fertile: anybody want some OEGB X EE mutts 3 weeks from now?
