Arizona Chickens

The wind is blowing here sooooo BAD. The neighbors store room roof blow off. I did venture out to feed chickens and it was really really loud. some of the chickens went out the door, but promptly ran back inside. The neighbors kids were very scared when the saw me go out there. They were worried that the coop would blow away with me in it. Their mom said dont worry she would hold it down until the wind stopped blowing, you know how she loves those chickens!!

Yes. They don't quack. If they make any noise at all it is a hiss. And WICKED claws. But like I said before, the ones I had were incredible parents. Check out the pics in my Washington flock. And they were really incredible at the mosquitos.

OK so the ducks are pretty cool. No ducks for Mikey!

Any thoughts about pressure washing out Blinkie's eye? (or any additional treatment?)

This has been going on for 2 weeks now and there is talk about putting her down.

I'd definitely try washing out the eye with saline. It is starting to sound like something more mechanical than biological is causing it. Seems like the packing peanut would have showed symptoms or even someone else in the flock. I don't think a little water pressure around the eye is all that bad; in this case it might save the bird!

The vision of you holding down the coop in the face of fierce winds and driven by the pure love of your chickens made me laugh!

This little Turkey is CRAZY SWEET!!!! I stopped by to drop off some eggs and Terry took me for a tour. Great set up, multiple open air covered coops, large fenced pens for the horse and goats. 4 adorable baby goats bouncing and playing, but my absolute favorite was Blue Bell. She tagged along and every step or two I just had to reach down and love on her. She coo'd and rubbed against your legs like a giant kitten. I had no idea a Turkey could be so lovable!! I really really really need one now!!

That really makes me want to get turkeys again! We always had turkeys growing up and I still remember how lovable they were. Lucky for you Fuzzybird!

I am getting a couple more if they will ever come into the shop! I was told that Toms can be real mean but I wonder if they are if you love on them like we do?
