Yes, mine is 10% under (read 65 instead of 75), so I think that means that if my incubator reading was 30, the humidity was really 40 (mine reads 30, instead of 40). At least I think I have that right - it's pretty late now and past time for bed. I think it's good that the reading is under rather than over in this case - I'd hate to have kept them at only 20%.

Just in the process of doing things with them beaks and nails are sharp and I have learned that if you wear those cheap gloves that they sell for gardening that had rubber on the palm side then accidental scratches don't happen..they are also good if you are trying to get eggs from a bird that has gone broody..I have some birds that REALLY dont want you to take the eggs sometimes

I guess you wouldn't actually be calibrating them, unless yours has a dial on the back, but you should test it to see if it's accurate and can compensate when you know how much off it is. I'm nervous because I wanted to do a dry hatch, but didn't. I'm going to try and take pictures today (day 18) when I candle and see if anyone can tell me how the air cells look.

Instructions:
Take a cup and place 1/2 salt in it. Add about 1/4 cup of water - just enough to make a slush, not salt water (although I did this with both 1/4 c & a 1/2 c. water and came up with the exact same results). Place the cup with salt solution & the hygrometer into a freezer ziploc bag (I put mine into a regular gallon ziploc bag and then put it all into a 2nd ziploc bag so that it was more insulated. Wait about 8-12 hours and then take a look at the reading while it's still in the bag.
 
ADC - look at this sticky and compare your air cells. She got a good hatch from this. I have no idea what her humidity was at, but maybe it will be a good reference.

I may just have to calibrate mine today. My humidity has been in the 20s the last few days, but has been up to 35%. So, who knows. I would guess that mine is reading low like yours, but will have to see.

Looks like all 3 of my Marans eggs are quiters. One still looks clear and the other two seem to have blood rings and small-and-not-moving embryos in them. All the Ameraucanas and EEs are doing great. And the one with the wax over the crack is also still growing and moving (whew!!). The most exciting one is the little white Polish egg. The embryo is VERY active and you can see in that thing like there is no shell on it. I can't help but shine my flashlight over it every time I turn the eggs!! I don't even have to touch it, just hold the light over it and I can see right in and watch the little wiggler!! Can't wait to see the chick! We're calling it Steve. (reference to the squirrel in Over the Hedge, "Let's call it Steve!" LOL)
With this milder weather we have been having, my temps are staying much more stable. But, when I do see it get low (99.1), it takes a while to get back up. That worries me. I never adjust the dimmer switch, but the temp in the house and we put two different towels over the right side of it when it gets low. It's quite an operation...
