Arizona Chickens

I personally don't see a problem letting others know about bad feeds stores. Especially, if there is a chance that illnesses/diseases are being passed around. The store needs to know that they have a problem, they need to acknowledge that they have a problem, and then they need to clean up their act or lose my business. I am a stickler for good customer care.

MIKEY ~Thanks for the info. I am glad to hear that Ideal is not involved. I have twenty-five Partridge Chanteclers coming in May, and I want them to be healthy. Thank goodness your flock is getting better. What a nightmare, huh?

EVERYONE ~ No Buff Orpington Bantam hatching eggs??? What about Black. Does anyone have any Black Orpington Bantam hatching eggs?

I have brown chinese and pilgrim ? type girls and a pied chinese? Male. One of my neighbors loves to eat the goose eggs but she has too many right now so there are more up for grabs if anyonde is interested.FEMALE

Me thinks you are about to get a PM from the Bio Security Queen herself!

Yes nightmare!

Hopefully it is being converted back into a dream now.

I gave the hens the last shots this morning before school - the chicks will get theirs when we get home.

Sill fogging with Oxine all day and night. Hopefully there is nothing but chickens living in that coop now!

My Silky Cotton is brooding 6 eggs again and was wondering how often I should let her do this with the hot weather coming? After this should I take her eggs or let her continue to brood them herself?

We don't have a lot of success with apples here in the valley. I have seen them, but they don't really do well. Those that I have seen with fruit on were mostly Golden Delicious, and it took a lot of fineggling to get them to produce. They require a certain period of chilling. This can be done with an insulated box around the base of the tree rising up about four foot up the tree.

Freeze ice in your freezer and pack it around the trunk. You have to be really dedicated to this process. The ice will thaw almost faster than you can freeze it. If you try it, I hope you post the outcome.

Anna, Golden Dorsett and Ein Shinar (I may not have exact spelling n the last) do great here. All have low chill requirements. I have a Golden Dorsett, my next door neightbors have both Anna and Golden Dorsett. All three of these trees produce bunches of wonderful apples each year. Theirs produce more than mine, but their trees are a number of years older.

i have a question, if anyone has time to answer it.
i have been rearranging some of the flock and had an unused pen, i put 3 of my SLB babies in there (6 week olds) and they scratched around and found what appears to be a treasure trove of gnats, and gnat larvae. judging by internet pictures it might be fungus gnats. i didnt see any mold when i put them in, but thats not saying it wasnt there.
is the damage already done? they are stuffing themselves on gnat larvae and i am worried about the possible amount of mold. i am going to move them to a different pen, but what should i watch for? did i just doom my babies?
thanks for any help.

No geese for pastrymama. The fireman already put the kibosh on that real fast. But I now have 2 quacker houses, mikey you might want to oxine that dog house too.
