After posting this morning about how worried I was the chick wouldn't hatch because I had stupidly moved the egg yesterday, I went out and saw the pip, and we waiiiiiiiiited a few hours and presto, Duo was with us!

Duo is almost a full gram heavier than his/her sibling, and seems to be throwing down a bit of stink-eye in this picture....or maybe just some general disdain?

So DH and I are wondering what kind of coloring these two peeps will end up with....they both have that same longish blond fuzz.

Duo is even louder than Uno:

Fingers crossed for a Tres, but I'm kinda doubting it with the little crack.........how long should we wait to see if it will hatch do you think??

Happy Easter everyone!!

Are you sure your hygrometer is accurate? I got one of the new Hovabator Genesis with the digital display and ended up that the humidity was reading at least 10 points low.

I took out my water and got really hot water going and replaced the water with the hot and I also took one big spunge and did what you said with the rag. I got the humidty up to 55%.
I have ONE chick hatched. One my own silkies. Hope more start to hatch now! Thanks.

Love all the babies!! Fuzzy your little goat is adorable....really makes me miss having goats. Maybe next spring I will be caught up enough around here to add some critters. Hope your eggs hatch soon!!

Only 10 of my 17 hatched. 4 were early quitters, 1 was a double yolker that made it to lockdown then died in shell before pipping. The last 2 looked prefect with internal pips and most of the yolks absorbed....so no clue what happened. 1 little guy has curled toes that needed chicky ortho boots. Probably due to fluctuating temps and humidity in my hated LG. That makes 29 cuties pies in my chick hatchery/brooder room now. This afternoon as I was sadly cleaning and packing away the incubators an egg customer came by and asked me to hatch 15 more for him. So, here I go again.

Teri keeping my fingers crossed that you have pip, zips and hatches by morning!!

I agree with that thought, we had horrible hatches with our digital hygrometer even when it was supposedly calibrated. I went and bought the cheapest thing I could find at Wally World and things have been much better. It doesn't show very many #s, just dry, comfortable, and humid.

Happy Easter everyone!
