Arizona Chickens

The lady at Ace Hardware told me that they stopped ordering chicks because the boxes get too hot during shipping. They only do special orders.
I just have a question. Can you buy baby chicks all summer long here or do they stop selling them when it gets really hot? I wanted to wait until I move my 2 little ones into their new coop before I got more but I don't want to miss out.

Darn, I am going to run out and get two more I guess. Mine are like 5 weeks old now. I wanted to wait a few weeks. Will my guys attack the new ones? I have an a Buff Orpington and a Wyandotte. Will anyone local have some I could buy? Looking for a calm gentle one for a pet and eggs.

We had an older teacher pass out on the toilet for about 25 minutes a few months ago. thank goodness it was her better class because otherwise they would have torn the place apart. Now the kids are all freaked out that she is going to fall down and die will she is teaching...they are 5th graders!!
Selina and Memphis - while I appreciate the sentiments - it was more like -

run out of the shop really quickly and call security from the bathroom (Thank gosh for cell phones) so someone could watch my students for several minutes.

Last time I was in Higley Feed they only had turkey chicks and Cactus Feed told me they wouldn't get anymore until September. Was it puffycheeks or fuzzybird that said they had some chicks they needed to find homes for? Maybe it was someone else all together.

I know Higley feed plans on another shipment next Friday. Lots of times they are out by Saturday. They go fast. I will call to see if they plan to get any after that. I am taking a class at Chicken Scratch Ranch http://chickenscratchranch.com/ in Gilbert this tomorrow evening on chickens for us novice's. I can ask them also.

Awesome. I've never heard of this place. Going to have to check it out.

My daughter went to collect the eggs. She found one and was bringing it back into the house. A fly landed on her leg, Agave (our turkey) saw the fly. The turkey pecked at the fly, which startled my daughter, and my daughter dropped the egg. The egg broke and a swarm of cluckers came over and devoured the egg. I told my daughter..."Now Agave knows that you poop out an egg like a chicken when he pecks at your leg." My daughter: "NOOOOOO!!!!"

Most hilarious reason to be denied an egg..... so worth it =) Kids + poultry = endless amusement and fun! LOL!
Thats priceless
