I've got a dump trailer & small bulldozer with rippers & a loader bucket - but it's going to cost you a bunch in fuel to get it up in Alaska where you live!

you keep your stuff in alaska or you are being funny and saying i live in alaska? humor is not working on me at the moment. 2 more deaths this week and i am done. one was a frat buddy of the fireman's, he went to the memorial last night. the other i just found out, my college roommate. she died last night.

I got a ton of food grade sevin dust (though it didn't say it kills fire ants) and put it over much of the yard, then I covered the areas I dusted to keep the chickies out. I took the younger pullets out of their brooder and put them into the high above ground chicken coop. I hope all works out in terms of pecking order! It is their first time with the big girls. The smaller girls simply were not safe in the brooder since it is ground level. Ugh. Who knew fire ants were so beastly? I never knew they produced such carnage until now. Learn something new everyday. Wish me luck that I get the ant infestation hammered down!

Here's a pic of my fodder growing setup. Seeing someone else's setup was what finally made it click for me. I obviously don't use my garden tub (our well is dry and we haul water, so jacuzzi baths aren't worth it to me). Yes, I have to water the fodder, but water is cheaper than hay!

I've had good luck with using DE to kill ants, but it isn't a quick solution. Like someone else said earlier, you put a big scoop on the entrance, but at least half the time, they will make a new entrance, and you have to make sure to get that entrance as well. The DE only kill the ants that directly come in contact with it, so my assumption is that it kills the nest by starving the colony, which is probably why takes a little while.

Wow! Maybe I should go back on the thread to read about Alaska, but I love that State and visit at least twice a year for the awesome fishing! I don't wan't to step on anyone's toes, but Wow! I am terribly sorry for the news of your loss, but I guess I just leave well enough alone. Best of luck to you.
