Arizona Chickens

We also had a loud lightning and thunderstrom show around midnight last night. Some rain but didn't seem a lot. When I went out to feed this morning I found my pretty Chocolate Palm, Royal with a compound fracture right at the wrist area. His foot was dangling and very large, in a lot of pain and shock. I had to put him down.:hit He was so pretty and he was strutting his little Tom self and was so cute yesterday.

I'm so sorry for your tragic loss :(. I'm glad you could help end his pain and suffering.

So sorry to hear that. Poor little guy. I dread the day I have to put one of my girls down or find one gone. Sorry for your loss.

Oh, I am so sorry!

So rooster are differant in taste. They don't taste as good roasted then?

Disclaimer: I have NO experience in this area. From what I've heard, it's more about the texture than the taste. Roosters are tough and dry when roasted and are better with slow, moist cooking methods. So are mature hens. Capons are great roasted. I've had capon and can vouch for their yummy roastedness, but I've never had a roo to compare it to. When I eventually expand my flock I hope to learn how to caponize the extra roos. My local freezer camp is pretty small.

Sorry about no chick pics but getting them from the camera to the computer is such a pain. They will come eventually!
