Gorgeous weather here today. Wish we'd get a little of that rainy weather that N. Cal is getting.

Well it finally happened! I have my first ICELANDIC BROODY!!!! "Ida" has been on the nest with five golf balls for the last 5 nights.

Would chicks on Monday be too early? I'm hoping to have some Icelandic chicks to put under her on Monday or Tuesday. I gave the last 30 Icelandic eggs (2 weeks post Drekki Jr.) to Nurse Shelly to incubate. Only 7 went into lockdown.... I'm hoping for at least one Drekki III.

My son is so jealous. He is wanting to raise a couple of turkeys. I was trying to find some poults for Christmas but it's just not meant to be. He will have to wait until the spring. He has been doing so much research on them that he will be a turkey expert by the time he gets any. Yours is adorable.

Blue Bell is always a great hit with people. Not sure if I will ever get turklets from her tho. She has so many down days now. Survived a lot of trama in her 4+ years. Two illnesses, two dog attacks, sweet old girl.

My olive egger hen has bumble foot...I think. Two nights ago she was roosting in the nesting box. Last night she was on the floor of the coop and today she is limping horribly. I first noticed her this morning when she was laying down with her wing out.

I picked her up and noticed that she kept her right foot (the one she was favoring) curled.

I soaked her feet and here's what they look like...

I've read up on bumble foot surgery, but if someone is experienced and is willing to help I'd sure appreciate it. So would my hen.

All my others look fine. How did this happen??
