I *THINK* my blue Marans finally laid her first egg! I didn't catch her in the act, but I found a darker brown egg this morning.Here's a picture next to an egg from my production red...

Gallo del Cielo has been helping me build my coop! He was over this morning working on the roof. Here are a few progress pics:
It is 12' long, 5'7 wide, and just over 6' tall. The beams add an additional 8" of height. The inspiration is the Bluegrass Coop
When it is complete we will have to throw a Tucson Coop Party with Gallo as the guest of honor.

That looks great. If I were to build a coop like that were I am, the termites would eat it within a year or two.

My egg skelter. Wish my marans would lay decent eggs. She has a problem with soft shells.
(Eggs with the staples... pancake syrup, butter, jam, peanut butter and the shakers)
My Blue Wheaten Ameraucana, "Geoffrey III". He is a real looker and a big boy, but he hasn't started crowing, nor have I seen him get jiggy with any of the hens yet. He hatched at Easter from a very blue egg.
My polish juvies with a Dellie, a BSL, PWLH and a RIR. Wish I could tell which ones are roos.

I love Geoffrey III! He's beautiful! And your egg skelter is pretty neat too, I need one of those! I heard oyster shells help with thin eggs, not sure if its true I haven't had a chance to pick some up yet.

Ladykotadoria, I hope we don't get termites. The coop is placed on a row of bricks instead of dirt, so hopefully that will help. Here is the front step, inspired by Bisbee!

My birds get LOTS of free choice Oyster shell. All my girls lay great eggs, with the exception of my FBCM.
