Arizona Chickens

I'm having trouble with my chicken addiction. Some days harder then others.
The weather is getting nicer, now I have the feeling I will have to start working again on all my projects. I have to do something with the ants.... I'm at a loss. Camphor is to expensive, I am still to scared to use poison. It is incredibly painful to work in my garden, or even on my coop/pen because of those ants.

Well my little flock has grown again. I'm up to 13, I may have a few more if my eggs hatch. I hadn't counted them before, on purpose. I didn't want to do the math.

Sweet meeting other chicken folk.. So glad to hear from you...:)

Your girls are smart... Kent our rooster is always making his alert noise.. They all just stop

Don't feed them hops. Not sure about chickens, but hops are dangerous to other pets.

I feed my spent grain to the chickens every time. They love it!

Ok great, thank you...

When it cools down we plan on getting a area for brewing.. We have a nice size back patio.. When I get it set up I will send

you photos.. Or what we really need to do is come there for a brewing lesson/ help..Sunday's right?

I was sure you could feed hops to chickens - in fact its good for them I thought - I'd look it up first.   Have a great time brewing - whenever you start!!

After reading the info, I won't chance it. My hops go over the wall into the alley or get washed down the driveway to dry up and blow away.

What about compost?

1 day old Black Copper Marans. I think this will be an only child as tomorrow is day 21 and I don't see any movement in the other 4 eggs. Little one may need to go to a home that has chicks it's age.

As I previewed this photo, apparently I did not see that a fly was buzzing about when I snapped the photo.

Anyone in the Tucson area looking for some chickens? I have 4 of DesertMarcy's sexlink hens who were hatched in mid-March of this year for sale, 2 reds and 2 blacks, $20 each. They have been fed organic feed all of their lives, and they are very healthy. They are all laying nice brown eggs. Also, I have a Sicilian Buttercup cockerel who is about 5 months old that I need to sell. He has also been fed only organic feed since I got him in May. If anyone buys my 4 hens, I will give them the rooster for free. If anyone just wants the roo, I'm open to offers. PM me if you're interested.

I have 3 chicks that are still itty-bitty, so I can take him. Of course I think you should get more chicks to keep him company! ;)
