Arizona Chickens

Hello. I am in Tucson (NE side) and looking for very young chicks (0-3 days old). I would like to place a few with two sweet broody hens, one of which successfully hatched an adopted egg this morning! I would be so happy to be able to give them more babies :) Did anyone have an (overly) successful Easter hatch with chicks to spare? Thanks!

I finally broke down and bought one of those fly trap things. How long after you add the water are you supposed to get the dead corpse putrid smell? I assumed it was instant but apparently not? Or I got a dud? I filled it around 3 hours ago and nothing. No smell, no flies. The package just says replace every 30 days or when it gets full. Doesn't say when the attractant becomes active.

I got my freezer for my Odyssey. It is 2.8 cu ft has a fast freeze feature (eat energy), otherwise very efferent.

I had some bantam cochins hatch this morning under a broody hen, with more expected in the next several days. Happy to give you a few for free. Or you can have some fertile eggs to have your other hen hatch them out. Or both,

I like "paying it forward" when meeting other BYC members, as some have been very generous to me and this allows me to return the favor, sort of. Anyway, it's good Karma

and I enjoy meeting other chicken enthusiasts.
I see that you are on the NE side of town, so I am not exactly around the block from you, but maybe you have a fuel efficient means of transportation and really like to drive an hour away?

Lady - thanks for the play by play. It is exciting hearing about your prepping and anticipated launch. I feel like I am along for the ride. I know you have been through some very difficult times of late and am so happy you are seeming to be very excited about your upcoming chapter. You deserve to be happy and excited at this time in life. I'm wishing you all the best and hope you will remain in contact with this thread to let us know where you are and how you are.

Agreed on all counts!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to mention that I will have extra Aloha eggs for a few days, because my 'bators are once again TOTALLY FULL until the 30th. I'll start saving to re-fill the trays maybe the 27th, but until then, I'm still getting about 12-18 per day plus there are a ton of Alohas laying up a storm at Stephen's.

I'm sitting on 4-5 dozen eggs right now!

Going to post on Craigslist tomorrow, but I'd rather some go to BYC'ers so that I can see how the babies turn out. LOL. So, if you want some hatching eggs, they are either $5 per dozen, if you want to hatch chicks to keep or sell.

OR you can have an entire bator-full (42 eggs) FREE if you agree to give me "pick of the litter" back on hens when they are 4 months old and I can see what the final size and color will be. Please PM me if interested! In case you're wondering what Alohas are looking like now:

Going to re-home these hens soon, so this might be the LAST CHANCE to get eggs from this particular flock. Stephen will be keeping about 15 adult hens through the summer in New River. Those are going to be the only adult Aloha breeding flock for the summer. I'll be raising new chicks so will be a lack of hatching eggs until next fall.

Oh, and also if anyone needs fertile duck eggs, Stephen has those, too. There are some small light green eggs and big white eggs. He has a bunch of breeds in there, pretty little delicate ducks, (call ducks?) big black and white and a blue and white (Swedish?) and Welsh Harliquin and a couple with the pompom on their heads. I have no idea who the drakes are so it could be any kind of mix. LOL. I have three dozen here for $5 per dozen (I'm in West Phoenix) but I'll be visiting him later (or he'll be stopping by) and can get more. He lives up in New River if anyone of you guys are looking for duck eggs up there.
