Arizona Chickens

I was thinking about all you chicken nuts who are looking for hatching eggs. I bought some hatching eggs off this site from a guy who is N NPIP certified in MI. They came well packaged and he has guinea, ducks , chickens both large and small and other stuff. They are only 3.00/doz and shipping was 16.00.I ordered 3 dozen and got 40 eggs. He also sent some rare Norwegian jaerhorn. I shared some with a friend and she has candled and says they are progressing.

Just read this. :rant Some people make me so just plan discussed, beyond made. They are just stupid, and mean, just mean. This police chief is probably one of those people that hold a hard line of beliefs, no dogs in house, farm animals are meat and have to rights, except to get fat. It is good to keep them from moving or the sun. I know such a man, his kid got a Chihuahua. It died. He threw it in the trash and told his kid he was happy the dirty flee dog was dead. It was left outside, he didn't want to wast food on it, dogs like cats have to find there own food. The kid said he put water out in the morning and it died over the night. His dad had picked the food and water bowl up so the dog wouldn't get it. The pup was 9 weeks old given by a neighbor to the kid. When I meet the kid he had been crying and could not go home until he was a man! That is how I got the story between the tears, I do not knew if he has brothers and sisters, or were he lived, but it could not have been far from the grocery store, he had to have been 7 or 8. There is nothing anyone can do about people like that.

This is the title: can't seem to get the link copy, Police chief decapitates family’s pet chicken that violated city ordinance

I had a weird and kind of unnerving episode in my chicken run yesterday evening. I was out with my girls and one of my BR pullets was picking on a guinea keet so I caught the keet and sat down and put here in my lap to check her, she started holloring and squaking load I got her quite and made sure she was ok. After I was done checking her I look up and all 45 chickens and the 4 other keets were all standing infront and to both sides of me just staring at me, I was looked at them and said whats up to them and all I heard was this low like clucking growl sound coming from them I was like ok whats going on. I said to them its ok Papa isnt hurting her and I put her down and my Roo RugaRoo jumped up on my lap and everyone went on with there buisness, I thought I was a goner for a second there lol, crazy chickens.

If you get on The Chicken Whisperer's facebook page, there has been a big discussion about this. The police chief first beat the hen with a shovel, then decapitated it & left the head there for the boy to find! A few people listed the chief's name & phone number but I think better results would come by calling the mayor and town council and demanding this idiot be fired. He says he got tired of chasing the chicken around which is how he justified beating her. Can't figure why he didn't ask the boy's mother to pick the hen up from the neighbor's yard & prevent this horror.

@K9DaveI'm near Chandler Heights & Power, near the Basha's shopping center. I can give you a dozen or so of the EEs, Golden Marans & Orps. I put yesterday's eggs on the turner in case I heard from you. Picked up another 3 so far this morning.

Whoa. That's a lot. I would live to pick them up whenever we can get together. I have so much to learn so I want to start by asking here.

This is the little Feral Hen I plan to use to hatch them. She has claimed the entire nesting box so I think that I should move her to hatch the eggs correct? I have a little Segregation Coop that I an keep her in. So the nest she's sitting in has like 5 fake eggs and she lays on them constantly. Will she lay on the eggs when I move her to another spot? How many can she lay on at a time? She looks like a Game Hen to me and isn't very big. Not much sq ft under her. I have an incubator now too. Hmm

She is a little thing! I haven't had success relocating a broody, once they establish where they want to incubate their eggs it seems they won't go to another location you choose. At least that's been my experience with my orps. I replaced the fake eggs for the real ones but my girls are huge compared to your girl!
Can you meet me at the Pet Club near Bashas at 1:30? I look like an older Navajo woman but get mistaken often for Mexican ;-)

Thanks so much for your responses. I had to put her to sleep today. She probably had pneumonia but was too far gone to help (without spending a fortune and with no guarantee.) I loved that **** bird so much, I almost spent the money but the vet wasn't very hopeful.

Gallo, I didn't break her broody, she did. That's when I suspected that something was wrong. Last time she gave it two full months. This time was about two weeks. Then she didn't return to the coop at dusk and it was all downhill from there.

Am a little surprised at how devastated I am over her loss.
