Arizona Chickens

Lost another chicken today :( she was an Andalusian hen named Mimi. Not sure what happened, she was just dead on a nesting box. She was one of the hens I was taking to the show. Thankfully I still have her sister Xena.

@MrsFitzDarcy I have accumulated about 7 pallets over here (maybe more) from my feed orders. You are welcome to come and get them if you want to use them to help predator proof your coop area.

Oh no, was there signs of any kind? Condolences from us :hugs

Thank you :)
And no, none at all... she looked a little skinny, but the Andalusians are smaller than the others

At the coop tour, I noticed some birds have fowl pox.. I checked our flock and noticed 2 of our girls have it.. Such a bummer..read here it explains that there is really nothing we can do.. Just look for symptoms and treat, just like the flu.

My EE, Billy, seems to have dry fowl pox. I noticed it last night and thought maybe she injured herself on something but after seeing your post it looks exactly like the dry pox. So, for those experienced, she is the only one with symptoms out of my 18 birds. Should I separate her? Is there anything I can do for her or the others to prevent this from spreading? And lastly, what are the chances that this will kill Billy or my other chickens? Ugh!!!

The blog should give advice. Mostly nothing, really. Treat like a flu. Honestly I would not worry about separation. It did mention that some get it & some don't. Some could be air born, mosquito's spread it.. So separation won't help.. read and you will know.
