Arizona Chickens

A friend gifted me with the most darling little Serama hen. I'm in love!

I'm keeping her indoors, at least for now. She sits on my lap and preens while I scratch under her wings. SO DARN CUTE!

Two natural beauties! You guys make a great pair. She goes well with your blond hair.

I've got ten NN Turkens that all try to sit on my shoulders at the same time.

They're only six weeks old now, but the bigger they get, the scarier their scramble for their favorite seat gets. I also have a 4+ month old Barred Rock who still thinks she can fit on my shoulder. (I don't agree!) And so far I've only been pooped on once, but the chick was only 2 weeks old and didn't know any better.

A little off topic but still back yard related. I have some 7 week old bunnies available for pet/meat if anyone is interested. I have recently listed them on craigslist. This is a first for me in raising rabbits and posting on craigslist. Just thought I'd let my peeps know. Will post photos if you are interested.

Burt is a isbar, here are some other chicken's that we hope will be hen's. Burt with his no-crow collar on.. I will post a photo of the egg's they came from..
Very nice I hope they are hens for you too. If not perhaps we can trade eggs or chicks when you get some to get new bloodlines introduced. Of course my hens won't be laying for a while since they are still in the eggs themselves Cluck Cluck
This line is from Greenfire Farms.. Their 1st blood line.. From what I was told from my friend. I tried to post photos of the egg's with no success .. I will try later..

I tried it with our French Bresse, she is so sweet and it was a bit weird.. She fell..but I only did it for like 1–2 minutes.. That poop.. :sick

I thought I had a lead on some silkie hens and someone beat me to them. 'sigh next time.' So far though my maran eggs are cooking in the bator and ordered some Isbar pronounced Ice bar eggs the clan is almost complete for now. But then, are you ever really done getting chickens?   :love

NO! I need to enlarge the pen for the chickens I already have, so I went down to the local Tractor Supply to get more fencing materials. I made the mistake of taking my GF with me, and ended up taking home 6 more sex link chicks.

hahaha! I didn't even know the TSC here had chicks!

My chickens swarm me if they think I have something to give them, otherwise, they do their best to avoid me. None have ever roosted on my shoulder, and no way will they ever. I'm not a fan of chicken poop on me when it can be avoided. Plus, that puts their beaks awfully close to my eyeballs, and I'm pretty sure my chickens would find eyeballs a tasty treat.

I thought a predator had gotten into my chicken yard. The compost heap was DESTROYED, buckets and straw had been strewn about everywhere. But, the run and coop showed no signs of having a predator try to dig in, so I was a bit confused. Why go after compost without at least trying for the fresh meat? Caught him later, it was just my dog. This dog, ugh. Great dog, but the destroy-everything force in him is strong. At least he's chicken-friendly.

The barred rocks love my shoulder but honestly I think it was more of a "save me the big scary chickens are trying to peck me again" type of thing. They fly onto my back if I'm bent over and they are on the roost.

I have a dog that is not chicken friendly. He killed 13 buff orpington chicks and so I have to keep him penned up. My daughter is moving out hopefully to go to college so he should go with her. He hates being penned and is now a barker. He's the one that turned aggressive. But my daughters and I are working on training him and taking him out for walks.
