Wow, another PA transplant

I'll say you moved around, that's a lot of places. One of my brothers lives in Nottingham, in the Amish country, but he is getting divorced and moving back to Kennett. Already has bought a house there. Beautiful country, interesting part of the country to live, full of history. Too much rain, clouds, cold for me.

I agree about the weather, after living in the mountains around Lehigh Valley called Macungie and growing up in Philladelphia, I told myself that I want to move wherever I could sit in my car and not freeze my butt until the care warmed up. It is a beautiful area though..........

I'm a PA transplant, too. Grew up in Grove City, PA...well, before that on 70 acre farm way out in the boonies about 10 miles out. Grove City is about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh, and about 3 miles east of where Interstate 79 and 80 cross each other. Worked at Edinboro State College for 14 years in 1977 before it became Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. In the early 80's, all the PA Universities dropped the "State College" and became "University of Pennsylvania at (insert your town here).

I've been in Tucson since August, 1990, and loving it. Don't miss all the snow and inclement weather. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. --BB

Here is a photo or two of our newest additions. My hubby picked these up today. I know Isbars are supposed to be pretty?? But this is ridiculous how gorgeous these birds are.

Those of you that enjoy having your own food forest and like berries need to get one of these! I got a dwarf fruiting mulberry in a five gallon pot from someone off Craigslist. It's only about five feet tall and had a few fuzzy-ish fruits on it when I got a month ago. Well this little tree is laden with fruit now and they are starting to ripen. The branches are so heavy with fruit they are bending under the weight. I think I need to remove most of the fruit so the tree can put more energy into getting established, but I'm enjoying eating them too much. The fruit are sweet if black or sweet and tart if picked black with just a hint of red. These fruit are not seedy like blackberries or raspberries. I'm not sure there are even any seeds in the fruit, or they may just be very tiny or soft. So far the birds have not found the fruit, maybe there are too many other edibles in my yard. I can see I may need to cover it in the future if the birds eat too many. This tree is supposedly "everbearing" and will give fruit most of the spring and summer so we'll see how it does once the real heat hits.
Oh how wonderful.. I bet your other tree's all look great and ready to go into the ground..

Hay! Got any chicken's??

Getting ready to do a mass planting! I picked up a semi dwarf "All In One" almond today, still looking for a peach and maybe persimmon. The area they are going into isn't big enough for full sized trees so I need dwarf or semi dwarf. I'm hoping to get them in the ground while it's still cool-ish outside.
