Arizona Chickens

My VA birds have NEVER come in contact with my established flock. Yes, I own them but they are not breeding with my established flock nor are they the same. I have Silver laced and others there.

@ChuskaMtns I'm not wanting to get into an argument with you. Perhaps what you are doing and how you are doing it were not made clear in your original posts.

And yet you are the only one here questioning whether or not I have a closed flock. Why does it even matter what I have to you? I've not asked you to take any of my birds nor have I ever met you, to my knowledge. We don't even breed the same birds. I have GCMs and Orps, you have RIRs and AMs so there is no competition. Nor have I really advertised my birds here - I think most everyone refers people to you, I even referred a few people to you.
No argument from me, just wondering why it should even be a topic here.

Hi everyone! I'm doing some thinning of the flock as I have a breeding pair of Salmon Faverolles and some juvies coming in this weekend ... sooner than I thought! I have: Silver-Laced Wyandottes 2-3 months pullets (hatchery quality): $12 2-3 months cockerel ( from show/breeder quality stock at my place): $5 or free with the purchase of a pullet Easter Egger (SLW x BBS Ameraucana) 2 month old pullet No picture, yet, but looks a bit like her half sister, Penny, but with muffs! Golden Pencilled Hamburgs 10 week old pullets from Murray McMurray: $12 Salmon Faverolles (bottom left of above picture) 2 10 week old pullets: $15 a little darker wheaten than I'd like, but not bad quality five toes with good separation beards and muffs
Your SLW was gorgeous, I wanted to stay and look at her, but with the babies in the truck, we wanted to get home with them.. By the way, all of the new teens are doing great.. The got fresh grown wheat grass this afternoon, and veggies.. I'm going out to see how they are doing soon..

Don't remember if we posted these brat's..
1000

They do relax in this position. The ducks don't seem to stress like the chciken's do.. I can't wait to start getting egg's from them..

Not really my place to say this or if it applies to all, but I think the bird flu GET'S us all on high alert.. Because, 1).. other member and the thought of them loosing their entire flock, a closed flock has come up on may threads latly.. 2) I think we all are talking about a closed flock even off is this site.. At least at this point, untill the bird flu has gone it course.. Our temps will "hopefully" keep it away.. Gota love the sunshine..
Desertmarcy is like our professors here in our neighborhood, she is like a dictionary and the meaning is...... Very technical when it comes to the meaning of a word.. I'm glad that BYC has all kinds of discussions ..

I finally figured out what is wrong with my lady who has been hanging back and not eating enough. She has what appears to be Bumblefoot on both of her feet. Poor lady. Im getting supplies today to remove the infection from her feet later today. I never even thought to check to see if that was the issue. Its not bad though so hopefully this will perk her back up.

I like those dishes and that it almost looks like an old breadbox.
Im sad to say i lost 2 ladies today. One from sickness and the other from the heat. I had to go to algodones with my daughter and wasn't able to cool off the coop in the middle of the day.

I lost one a few days ago. It's fairly cool in the run with damp earth and water to wade in but I found one of my favorite hens, a little Welsummer, dead in a nest box. She always took a while to lay her eggs and in a nest box there isn't much air circulation and it's dry, so much hotter in there.

I'm worried about my blue splash EE, she is very fluffy and has a tiny pea comb. She pants more than the others and is always entrenched in the dampest earth in the deepest shade. Poor girl should be living somewhere else.

I'm thinking of getting some partridge pendesencas, they are supposed to be super heat hardy and lay large dark brown eggs. Anyone here have any?
