Arizona Chickens

It's not the heat that is the issue with plastic buckets, it's the UV rays. If you paint the bucket with white paint it will keep the feed cooler and keep the UV rays from degrading the plastic so it will last much longer. Also keeping shaded most of the time will help.

Chickens are much bigger than doves. If you extend the step of the treadle out and take out the part of the step close to the opening the doves won't be able to reach the feed with their shorter necks.

That's a real good tip about those treadle on the feeders. Thank you! Mine are all the standard size, so it would work for mine.

I might give her some eggs just for fun. If I do end up moving, you guys will get first picks.

Remember I hatched out some eggs awhile back? I got 3 here from that hatch. 1 blue Australorp pullet, 1 splash Australorp pullet, and 1 splash Australorp cockerel, and they are now 3 months old.

I thought that there were only black australorps?

Nope, although all of my older ones are the black ones. I bought my BBS/Australorp eggs from Kurt over in the eggs for sale section here on BYC. He lives in West Virginia. He also has pics of his adults posted if you want to see what they look like.
