Arizona Chickens

Yeah. With kids it isn't worth it at all!!! Lose the roo! Roosters are a dime a dozen. It is NOT worth it. They can be very dangerous to a little kid.
Chickens are supposed to be fun. Bad rooster spoils that.

"Off with his head!!!"

Good morning everyone! We have been getting a good amount of rain almost everyday. The rain even has my tomato leaves curling from to much water.

Not complaining of course!

Our chickens are doing great still laying like champs. I am just waiting for the SLC and EE to start trying to crow any day now. Our ducks are good except my dumb swedish female thinks that 4:55-5:30 am is quacking time.

Her quack can travel as for as a rooster's crow, I swear our entire town can probably hear her. It makes it worse because she has to start up right when she hears our alarm clock. She hears that and off she goes, QUACK QUACK QUACK. She is just teaching her duckling bad habbits. The male STILL has to be penned up seperatly.

I got school shopping all done this past Sunday.

Almost every store in Tucson was out of uniforms but Ross totaly pulled threw and was the jack pot for uniforms.

I already have all of the animals fed, cleaned, and watered, hubby off to work, and kids done eating breakfast. Last night was beautiful here. We didn't get any rain but we did get the nice cloud cover and cool breeze last night. My cousin and I went for a walk and took our two dogs. What a sight to see, the dogs were so happy they kept tangling them selves together. LOL

I loves those chickens they look so pretty.

Anyone wanting a SLC or EE roo let me know, I will post pics of them soon.

This beauty is about 5 inches across in any direction. Isn't he gorgeous! I figure some of you folks who are in town don't get to see these beauties after our storms.

MAGNIFICENT!!! No, we don't get them in town. Thanks for the pic.

We usually see them in our yard, but since we don't seem to get any rain until the wee hours of the night, I haven't seen any this year. It sure is pretty!

My nephews from Ohio were out a couple of years ago, and they were so fascinated by them and couldn't believe they were just crawling in our yard.

Great! Now I am going to think I have spiders in my bed tonight. When it rains we get frogs. I don't like stepping on them or finding them dried up on my patio.

I lost my whole quail batch. It took some time but I found one of my gauges was off by 2°. Thankfully I have and awesome friend who gave me more eggs. I have a few chicken eggs developing. I took a neat video of the embryo dancing around inside the egg but don't know how to post it.

I am going to hatch out some Amerucana (EE) and SLW. So if anyone needs some chicks, do let me know. Also, if you need eggs for a broody. Hubby can bring to Tempe.

Well, I haven't posted here in a while, and it looks like the thread is slowing down.

I lost my Rhode Island Red that suffered with bumble foot for the last year and half. She got well, and we let her out of the sick pen. This lasted about two months, and then the heat or old age got her. She was about three and a half years old.

My youngest son took his bar exam. Now we wait to see how he did.

The house across the street was robbed last week. The owner is bed bound with Parkinson's disease. He had to just lay there and watch them ransack his house. He couldn't move. He can barely talk now.

It was a couple of white guys. Luckily, his daughter was off to the grocery or somewhere, otherwise she probably would have been put on the entertainment committee.

The windows of the house have been boarded up since the robbery. Now it looks just like so many other houses in the neighborhood. We went to the doctor's office on Friday, and we counted fourteen or fifteen houses vacant on the street north of us.

Obama says things are getting better, if so, why can't people find jobs? If he sees being on welfare, food stamps, WIC and unemployment as getting better, then maybe he sees that as being better.

My wife's niece and her husband just walked away from their house. The family had been helping them with the house payments, but now it seems like everyone is tapped out. I can't help but wonder how many other families are in the same situation.

I started a diet. I eat mostly green vegetables, egg whites, chicken breast and fish. I drink a protein drink twice a day. It really sucks.

I am supposed to drink at least a gallon of water a day and walk at least a mile a day. I think I am doing that just running to the toilet and back.

I weighed 311 pounds when I went to the doctor's office. He asked how I was doing, and I answered "fine, I am only here because my prescription for my diabetes medicine ran out." Then he started with his usual lecture. He was really surprised/disappointed that I was doing so well.

For what it is worth, the doctor looked like death warmed over. He is so scrawny. That boy needs to eat some doughnuts.
