well i would look into the cornish meat birds, i dont know much about them , but did hear they are calm birds, my tractor supply in douglas AZ has those chicks right now, i saw them last Wednesday wile down there buying feed. they also had white leghorns, i did want a few of theos ,but the workers didn't have a lable on the white leg horns from the Cornish chicks & they all looked alike andalso they were straight run to, so geeezzzer...? i think ill wait till next spring, and order a few white leghorns with the tractor supply , they take separate orders , that way i dont have to buy 15 chicks at a time from a hatchery when i only want 2 or 4 white leg horns, so yeah thats the best way to get what you want.

Maybe we can still look around for a breeder who has the White Leghorn pullets locally? Are you planning on doing the Austra-Whites, too?

i was thinking about trying for a few chicks with one of my broodies so they will have a nice mommy to love them..! and if my local farmers wanted some so im still wanting to find out if they are good in a hot climate...! or at least do better then most breeds do here in AZ ..? its all up in the air and will depend on if they fair well in a hot climate ..? so we shall see ..!and so tell me about the ones you hatched and let me know what you think about them..!

Well, those 2 Austra-White chicks that I hatched out are doing ok. I moved those 2 and 3 of the pure Australorp chicks outside 3 days ago into a large wire dog crate. I was just out there checking on them all, and they are doing ok. My next door who I got those 2 white eggs from (the one that the dog's killed all of their hens) would like to get those 2 chicks from me in a couple more weeks after they clean up all the weeds in the yard. They will be bringing me another bag of chick feed tomorrow for the chicks out there in my pen.
