Arizona Chickens

We are looking for 2-3 started pullets/hens to replenish our aging flock. We're open to any full-sized breed as long as they are good layers. Location is west of Phoenix. Thanks

I just sold 3 Australorp laying hens. I currently have 9 chicks from my Australorp flock, but I am growing them out to see what sexes that I have.

View attachment 1154274 Sorry but I have to brag! We got our first egg yesterday! And another today. I know it's my leghorn because it's white. She got some extra loving  We are so excited!

I remember my first eggs ever last September a year ago it is so exciting I still count how many I get every day! Lol

Congrats!!

Mystery egger...

I have spent enough time with my girls that I know which egg goes with which hen, but you know how their egg size changes as their laying habits change etc.,? Well I'm getting the biggest egg yet, it's more brown tinged or otherwise buff egg but the darkest of all my hens eggs and I'm not sure who is laying it bc there are 2 girls who have changed laying habits lately.... it's either Goldie or mohawkue... my guess is Goldie but she sure is sly about laying lol:oops:

Thank you so much! I hope it encourages the others to start soon. I'm going to have to find some good recipes that use eggs!

Pasta carbonara :drool
Quiche gets a half dozen eggs and breakfaat burritos with leftovers are also popular in my house.

LOL! Okay, here's my confession as to how much of a nerd I am. I actually maintain a spreadsheet with each girl's name, date she reaches point of lay, and the frequency and weight of every single egg laid by each girl every day. I keep a running total for each coop/flock/hatch so I can assess whether a particular breeding resulted in any increase or decline in production. I also record egg color. The only flock I struggle with identifying the layer of each egg is my Silver Grey Dorking flock. They all lay nearly identical eggs except one girl, who lays an egg that's slightly pointy at one end.
