Arizona Chickens

@Bobby Basham - can I come help you?? My DH and I can get them moved and last minute adjustments to your coop. We can work with nesting boxes, etc, etc. While next week we'll get a reprieve from the hot, hot - in 80s - it won't last long. No Bobby we don't know you BUT we love you and want to help. Its just about help and not about judgment. Please?
This is a lovely idea and yet another example of why I adore this AZ group. Great idea @FeatherPugs. I could come help too! I'm pretty good at moving chickens around at this point, even if they don't want to be moved...broodies are giving me a lot of practice. I would love to help :D Just say the word, Bobby.

with 100 degrees outside the garage would be hotter and stale air. My 3 month olds need the room to spread their wings and then there is pecking order needing to run away from the meanies.....

Speaking of which marshmallow is consistently squeaking now only in the morning it goes Roo, China, then him lol

Also i noticed that with these EE's they still act like babies at night they wont roost on any of the perches bc they still want to pile together so they jump up to the top of the coop, and pile on the roof together:barnie

Do you all think they will outgrow this? I'm guessing their genetics make them take longer growing up? Compared to my orps at least...

Thing is, birds have much more efficient respiratory systems... ie... it takes two breaths to exhale what they've inhaled because they are breathing with additional air sacs.. That's why the whole "canary in the coal mine" works. The design is to get them more oxygen for sustained flight, even though many don't fly alot.... they all have it. So all that stale hot air that Meetthebubus mentioned affects them alot more than it would affect us. The NEED fresh air to be healthy.

Wild lobster mushrooms w/wild Alaskan cod & duck egg’s..
3-4 servings. Mushrooms from Oregon, about 1/4 cup.
Cut up 1/4 small sweet onion in a pan w/ olive oil, salt-pepper
Simmer for about 5 minuets. Add mushrooms, peas, cod, handful
of cilantro & cooked asparagus. Simmer for another 5 minuets.
We had dried mushrooms so we soaked them 1st.
We wanted the extra flavor from the water so this dish will have
a bit more water. Pat down the ingredients in the pan & add the
whole duck egg’s. Cover & cook maybe 3-5 minuets for soft boiled.
Then add raw garlic, salt & pepper to taste.
These egg’s are from our duck’s, we rinse the natural bloom off
in tepid water no soap.

OOPS - looks like Pearl posted twice (fixed it!) - I do wish you could see the pink colors in her feathers! @DesertChic - there were a few on the roost and one decided to move - over the top of the others! - so it just sat on the bottom roost! They are a laugh a minute - no names yet but some are showing through - I'm pretty sure the barred girl will be Dottie. :)

This looks fantastic! I am sad to say I have never tried a duck egg.
