Hi Everyone! I haven't had much time to keep up on the forum lately, but I hope everyone is doing good! I'll try to catch up on posts soon!

Mahonri, here are pictures of the polish-mix chick that hatched:

Tucson Tofu, cool looking bird!

Mahonri, so far 10 hatched, but one couldn't keep his legs under him properly, kept sticking them straight out and falling on his back. I kept turning him over but had to leave for a couple of hours and he didn't make it. One more is still trying to break out, and 4 no piping. Overall, better than I was expecting this time. I'll put up another pic later today. All 4 of the Ameraucanas hatched. p.s. glad to see you still on here!

Hi everyone!
I'm getting super excited! My husband and I drew up the plans for the coop we're going to build and we are going to go buy some chicks on Sunday! I've decided to start with Barred Rocks (and whatever else I end up coming home with

) I'm hoping all goes well with the chicks..I'm a little nervous since I've never owned chickens before. I'll be on here most likely a lot after I aquire them because I'll have lots of questions

That's pretty cool NoSkiveez. I'm still waiting for my first green egg that's not from my duck. I'm getting quite a few smallerr eggs, don't know if they are just the training egg size, or if that's what I'm going to get from those particular hens forever.

Congrats and good luck Lyongirl. Make sure the coop/run is predator proof, and if they are free ranging in your yard keep an eye on them. Lots of critters like chicken.

Thank you! They will only be free ranging when we are home during the day. We have 6 foot concrete fencing around our yard so that's helpful but we are also going to build the coop with metal cloth so that nothing can get into the chicken coop.

Beverlyl, did you buy that pallet of feed you were talking about? I'm down to where I'm needing to buy some more, but prefer pellets. I called Double D and they said they had Southwest feeds pellets or crumbles for $1140, but if you buy 40 bags they take 10% off, for a net of $10.26 a bag. If you don't need a whole pallet I'd split it with you if they will let you mix crumbles and pellets. Wickenburg is about as far as Dales for me.
