Arizona Chickens

I love the smell of it too, kind of like a freshly mowed lawn.

I know that my chickens love to eat it! My next door neighbor with the goats gives me a 5-gal. bucket full of alfalfa hay to give to my chicken's. I just dump it out in the pen, and let them have fun with it!

:bunHappy Birthday @igorsMistress !!! :bun Hope you have a great day!

@Geranium that is such good news! She looks much better this morning. Sometimes you just never really know what is wrong, especially with a chick that young...but I'm so happy she is back to her usual self.

Thanks kiddo! :hugs

Mine are pro's at scratching all the bedding out of the nest boxes. i had to line some of them with outdoor carpeting to keep the bottom soft so the eggs won't crack, because they'd scratch them down to the hard bottom. How was the alfalfa when you were using it? Did yours leave some of that in the boxes? I'm thinking of trying hay to see if it'll stay longer than a few days.

Hay works better me, not as easy to kick out of there.

Wow so many birthdays - so much cake.........
I use a chopped straw bedding - soft and easy on the chickies booties. It is a Stanlee product and I have very little - considering all the other things I used! - kicked out of the nests. I use old carpet on the bottom of my boxes too - seems to work well and if needed I can toss it. I need to get some of the alfalfa thingees to put out in the yard as boardom buster
Glad that little Candice chick is feeling better - you just never know. Have a great Sunday.
