@BlueBaby - I about froze my blood yesterday! It was really cold to me AND I had to be out dirty early to drive to the valley for a dr apt. UGLY! When it rained last time - two days ago there were puddles on the desert floor! That's how much rain we've had. AND my chicken yard shows it too. I hope to clean it up really well by this weekend - just in time for more weather to blow in. Today I'm cold too. We froze last night too.
@cavemanrich Wonder if he has a "rooster flock" where he takes others roosters - his gain!
@cactusrota Heritage breeds were often called "table chickens" where they laid eggs but were hearty enough for the dinner table. Crevecours (sp) are one of those breeds they are trying to get back in the US. Cute black with crests, etc but too hot for my area.
@gypsyfarmgirl - Welcome! I'm not a little chicken keeper - love to look at them and I remember BabyCatRanch keep small birds like these and they were forever selling their eggs and chicks. Enjoy!

Hi everyone, how are you doing, I'm tired and didn't do all that much today Guys have been working away on the coop, about all we need to do now is put the roof on, door can wait for a couple of days. @FeatherPugs Yes, that sure was a cutting, freezing wind yesterday. It was cutting right through my sweater, so I put hubbies XL windbreaker on over the top of my sweater. It helped by keeping that wind out. My hair still looked awful funny though. Today was better out there.

I suppose I could get the others tested if the one does testing from living birds. Damn it, I put her in the freezer because I didn't want the carcass to go bad.

Call Midwestern. I called them once and they were really nice and easy to talk to. You may be able to bring a live bird in so they can pull the samples for testing so you don't have to. Not sure though.
