Arizona Chickens

It was windy here, also! Rain was pouring down along with hearing thunder and a bit of lightening out the window right before I went to bed.

No more new chick's hatched yet. The 11 remaining one's in the brooder are all doing ok. The 3 that are in my grow-out pen with the hardware cloth-wire on it are all ok, too. None of the chick feed that was still in the bowl got wet neither. I fed everyone and they are happy. I bought new pan's for their water this year, moving away from the galvanized ones.

Good luck! It sound's like they are about to join the world! All of mine are eating and drinking well, and they are pretty active. No bent or crooked toes, and no cross beaks! Yes, I check them for everything.

Thank you! I do the same.

One pipped at the narrow end so I think I'll have to assist. Doesn't look like it can turn to zip :barnie

I had another NN chick hatch out this afternoon while I was outside doing chores. When I got done and came back in there to check on the egg's, temp, and humidity, there was a chick looking at me in there! :gig How is your hatch coming along?

Good morning. Yay for hatching babies!

There were at least 6 eggs with external pips when I went to bed. I woke to 4 babies and one hatched a few minutes ago.

@cactusrota 1 of these is from my roo and I think the little nn girl Nyx that I got from you, the one without the feathered legs. The rest are from the eggs. There are 6 chicks so far, all with nn to one degree or another.

I LOVE #s 3 and 4

@BlueBaby I'm pretty sure that all black chick in pic #2 is Fuglys baby based on what I'm seeing hatch from the rest of these eggs.

I had a black that hatched, and I don't even have a black adult here. It's black with a reddish-brown on the head and a strip of same reddish-brown color going down the back, with a smaller blueish bowtie on the neck. That's the NN one out of this hatch that I want to keep (just because it's different). I didn't have anymore egg's hatch overnight.

:frow Good Morning.. question, is mid to upper 50's at night warm enough for chicks that don't have "all" of their feathers? I need to move the ones I have in the house out to the grow out coop.. I'm thinking they are about 5 weeks old. They will be in a large dog crate for now I can wrap a tarp around it and I have a heat lamp if it comes down to it. The coop isn't completely draft proof, but it's not bad.
