Arizona Chickens

What’s the best way to trim a chicken’s nails? My Wyandotte needs a pedicure lol. Would dog nail clippers work?
I used dog, clippers, and even wire cutters in a pinch. Be careful and do a little at a time. Familiarize yourself where the quick is in the nail. You don't want to cut into it. The nail would bleed.

@starri33 I'm doing ok, I think. I didn't sleep well last night, so got up too early. My broody hen is sitting on 5 egg's from my flock due to hatch on the 24th. Do you want them?
Thank you, but going to have to decline at the moment, got to see what is going to happen with the bunch I've had hatch and will be hatching in the next two weeks :)

HeiHeiWhiskey, what a cute chicken, too bad I am too far and I have "10" ;) ;) chickens already. Have you posted on your local Craigslist yet? Also, the rehoming page in these forums. I hope she finds s good home, hens are a little easier to rehome than roos.

Also, an update:I have rehomed the two buff brahma roos, they are going to a good home where the kids are doing 4h with them. I am really happy about that because I really didn't want to freezer camp them. I'd contacted a meat processing place in my area, and they said it was $10 - $20 to process chickens, depending on size

Have just been out back to check on everyone, I ended up with 3 chicks from my 1st broody. I'm going to guess that I have another now..lol, she was sitting in the nest box yesterday, I took her eggs, she's sitting back in there now, has two eggs up under her and I've let her keep them, I will mark them in the morning and just watch.

@SonoranChick Cora is darling! I can't believe she's 7 months old already!
@Fishybiz my girls have definitely slowed way down on egg production in the heat.

The flock is doing ok. I'm in California visiting family, so Mr. Geranium is taking care of everyone. My muscovy duckling is 4 weeks now and the chicks I got to raise with her are 6 weeks, so when I get back to arizona i'm going to work on getting them outside full time. The duckling is getting her feathers now.

It sound's like thing's are going good for you now!

Help.. when I first had the broody, she got a egg broke and I moved her and eggs to a crate, babies are now hatched and are about a week old, when can I open the door and let them all out to mingle with the rest of the flock, the babies are still really tiny.
