Arizona Chickens

Thanks so much everyone! You guys are the best!! 🥰
Orpingtons are the nicest, friendliest birds. Great pets for the kids. The other birds picked on mine, though. You only have a few, but my brown leghorns actually picked on the Orpingtons, even though the Orps were twice their size! This time I got Brown Leghorns, and no Orpingtons. My kids are all grown up now! I am telling my new chicken-keeping neighbor to just get one type for a peaceful flock, even though I know that it is almost impossible to do. There are so many cool breeds!

On a separate note, I did have a question about our Buff Orpington. Her wings are so tiny with little feathers and she doesn't have any butt feathers coming in yet. They all are the same age. Is it normal for this breed to come in slower?
Our other 2 girls wings are bigger than their bodies when expanded. The BO (Maggie Mae) is a little chunk and she's super active and rowdy so I don't think that it's because she's not thriving. Her feathers also aren't flat against her body like the other two.

The Summer chicks I had always seemed to feather out slower than Winter chicks. Each will go at their own pace.

They found the rock... and now they like to just perch up there 😅

Also as an update on the going in at night situation they have started going in at night since I started leaving the human door open for them... the only one not going in on his own is one of our yellow bantam roosters 🐓

@BlueBaby It’s about waist height (just under 3 foot) they climb up it and “fly” down on their own... I agree it is kind of high for them but... when I built the run I included it on purpose so they would have a unique place to perch...
Mine have been flying a lot as well... well not including the silkies 😂 I am going to let them venture out to the livingroom tomorrow to test out their flying skills a bit more.

Have a wet-dry vac, or chicken diapers ready. It seem chickens poop every 15 minutes or more frequently.
Maybe only mine since I feed them soooooo well :gig :old
