We still have them, but not nearly as many. A couple of years ago I would go outside and night and see one to two dozen (this was every night), and if I didn't see them, I did hear them, and I KNOW they were laughing at me! This year I still see signs, but have rarely seen any, and not nearly the numbers. Kitty, caught a baby roof rat and wanted to bring it inside to play with. DS looked at her through the door and said "Kitty. REALLY?!" and then locked the door.

Then the Arizona Poultry Organization is having our show the last weekend in February, also in Safford. Last year it was in Casa Grande, but we goofed and did not get our reservation in on time, and were looking at too late in the year (most exhibitors take birds out of show pens and put them into breeding pens by March. Plus, the rent at Safford is about a third that of Casa Grande. The sgtate fairgrounds is even higher rent, plus people have to pay for parking and entry, so we deemed that to be not a good deal, although certainly convenient.

We usually have a fun show in late April/early March. We're talking about doing it in Flagstaff, but no firm decisions at this point.

If anyone knows of a large facility that can be locked at night with a reasonable rent for the weekend, it would certainly be a place we'd consider having a show.

Newbie question...

If my girls haven't started laying yet, am I out of luck now until spring since the days are so short? Or is there a chance they will lay anyway? I do not have a light in the coop, and I don't have anyway of getting one there.

I saw a wierd bird thing today. A buff brown bird darted down and snatched something up - I was on my way to pick up my girls from school and could not stop where I was/ The thing that struck me was how long and pointy the wings wew and how small the bird. Like a pigeon with this sharp wingspan. Very agile and quick. In Gilbert, near the civic center area, in a pretty barren field.

It's cold. Got 5 eggs today. Leghorn finally laid an egg after taking a month off, 1 Am, 2 FBCM and 1 GCM.

It was a LONG day at work. Can't wait till my day off Friday.
