Arizona Chickens

I used the crock pot for my 18-month old andalusians, I wish I'd turned it to low and cooked longer, and used oil instead of water to make a broth. Earlier, I had baked an approx 3 month old cockerel using the convection roast setting that works so well for grass fed beef, but the cockerel was fairly tough.
Exactly. You need to treat it like a chuck roast.

If they are still here on Monday the 19th, I will start the culling for the freezer process.
Hens are really nice in the crock pot. All day on low & slow. I put 1 cup rice with 2 cups water and a can of mushroom soup. I am doing that today with my last Barred Holland, 14 weeks. Falls off the bone, the house smells fantastic.

Maybe I will try that with some of that Campbell's Cream of Chicken with Herb's that I have in the cupboard.

They are known for being a broody breed. Maybe that's another reason why no one wanted them?
Lead me not into temptation. (Just got back from church. :D) I have this habit of ending up with oddball or heritage critters. First raising a newly rediscovered gecko species, then getting another red listed one, then ending up with cuckoo colored leghorns. Not sure how this happens. But right now I don't have an extra coop.
