Arizona Chickens

and some day I'll need one of those pour spouts you attach to the bag, so I can pour it into smaller containers once I get the big bag home, so I can lift it out of the car, but not yet...
Right now my DH does the heavy lifting, but if something happens to him I'll have trouble with that.

Well, my next door neighbor said that she might take my last 2 Naked Neck girl's, so that would leave me with 4 more fully feathered necked girl's that need a new home, plus the Colored Dorking rooster. Any taker's or do I eat them? All were hatched last year (2021). I was going to sell them cheap, but now they are for free. I need them gone so that I can do only the Bielefelder's and I no longer want a mixed flock.

Guys I was sent here cause I am in AZ and I am in a big mess.
I pressed the wrong button when doing an online shipment of Polish chicks and other crested chicks. My partner is in awe of my mistake and I have no idea where I can put this many chickens.
In summary I need to distribute about 20 Polish chicks ASAP.
Arrival date is expected to be Feb 9 - 11. They will be newly hatched.
Please help. I feel silly. I am currently open to advice, creative solutions, pro tips, sales to get me out of this mess!

Welcome to the Arizona thread!

How many chicks can you handle--did you mean to order any at all? 20 chicks should only require a small amount of space for the first week, but by 4 weeks the dust will be a bit much.

I'd put an ad on craigslist, saying that you ordered in volume from the hatchery and that you're selling the excess. That way people understand the birds aren't "defective" or sick etc.

Also, where in AZ are you at? There are various people who may be able to help you out.

Oh dear, is there any way you can call the hatchery and beg them to have mercy on you? That's a lot of chicks.

I just seen a thread talking about corn shortage prediction's for this year.

When I tried tro buy some on line yesterday they were sold out, but I was at Walmart before 7 am today and they had quite a bit on the shelf, so now there's an extra bag on the porch. The first of the month is usually a very busy day for stores, and I wanted to beat the crowd (and am usually awake well before 5 am anyway).

Yes, and it's best to look for more before you run out, rather than after the fact. I'm thinking of buying another metal garbage can to be able to store more in. The 2 that I have can each hold 150-pound's of feed and scratch. I also have a smaller sized one that I use to store a container of oyster shell, a dust pan, and other thing's in and that one also has a large sized rock in the bottom to help to weigh it down from the wind.

Rocks? LOL, no shortage of those here, there are lots of huge chunks of petrified wood laying around. You're right, I need to get more garbage cans.

My DH decided to pick up dinner last night at our local Sonic. What I ordered was right, but they got his 2 Double 1/2 pound Cheeseburger's wrong so had to remake them. Anyway's they remade the whole order, and told us that they couldn't take back their mistake. We ended up with way more then we could eat, so Buster got a double 1/2 pound cheeseburger last night all to himself and thought he was in dog heaven. I out the other 2 extra's in the fridge. Today he will get another one later. The 3rd double cheeseburger got cut up into smaller pieces and fed to the flock outside. I threw away that extra order of onion ring's because I was full, and Buster and none of the flock could have them.

Be careful--he might start wanting takeout every night! :lau
