I know, and the ground and tree's are so dry right now because it hasn't rained.Oh yikes! And with this crazy wind... Not good.
I saw that on the news. Hoping for the best for folks up there, the wind was terrible in that area this morning.2 new fires up north by Flag. Pipeline (started yesterday) and the haywire (reported this morning). Be careful out there friends.
It's really windy here too (Mayer area). I'll take that over the heat from the last couple of days though---the chickens' new freezer should arrive tomorrow or the next day.I saw that on the news. Hoping for the best for folks up there, the wind was terrible in that area this morning.
My co-worker (also the boss' son) just got evacuated for the 2nd time in Flag - it's now 3 fires (maybe related due to the winds blowing embers a couple miles away).2 new fires up north by Flag. Pipeline (started yesterday) and the haywire (reported this morning). Be careful out there friends.
It was noticeably cooler this morning than it was over the weekend, but we’re getting a lot of wind this afternoon. It's really windy here too (Mayer area). I'll take that over the heat from the last couple of days though---the chickens' new freezer should arrive tomorrow or the next day.
Yes, when I had those NN's, they always picked the hottest time of the year to go broody, and that one year the same white NN/Breese hen went broody twice. The one year I finally let her have 2 egg's to hatch. After they hatched, they were eaten before they could even dry off, so it's best to separate the broody if you decide to let her hatch.I have the Barred Holland broody sitting on 11 eggs - I hope she breaks because I think it's too hot to do this.
Maybe the NN Bresse broke last nite? She wasn't in her normal broody spot this morning - she was back to roosting with Cowgirl and a NN Blue on top of a little hoop house inside the pole barn run.
Eaten by another chicken - not NN/Breese, right? or did you know by who?Yes, when I had those NN's, they always picked the hottest time of the year to go broody, and that one year the same white NN/Breese hen went broody twice. I don't know who started it. They were playing tag with one of the babies when I walked out there. One would have the prize and the other's were chasing and trying to take it like they do with any other food (like mice or caterpillar's if they spot any). The noise from the peeping chick's hatching is probably what drew the attention to them.Eaten by another chicken - not NN/Breese, right? or did you know by who?
