Does anyone know where I can find baby chick or pullet marans? I'm in Peoria.

Welcome to our Arizona thread. I don't know of anyone that is raising Maran's. I have been hatching out baby chick's, but they are the non-white Leghorn's.

Inspire Farms in Mesa is taking orders for maran chicks for Sept. 26.

I bought a mix of chicks from them last year. I didn't buy any marans but the chicks I bought were correctly sexed and are healthy and good layers, if that helps. I'd have no problem buying from them again.

How is everyone and their flocks doing?

I've been playing musical chairs with these chick's that I have recently been hatching out. Moved the oldest ones into the main part of the coop and pen, then moved the next batch out there to the growout pen so that the next batch that hatches can go into the brooder.

My husband is getting better, but he is still far from being in normal health. I'm still trying to keep up with everything.

Same as always here. Trying to work out where and how to put up the new run. We're almost at the end of the triple digit temps, so that makes me happy.

That's one of the reasons why I waited until closer to fall to do any hatching. The batch that's due to hatch on the 10th of this month will be the last one I do for this year. These should all be laying by spring, and since they are Leghorn's, they should lay egg's pretty good.

Thank you for the prayers for him. It's been a trying time for me with having to take care of him.

Thank you so much!!! They'd be a drive for sure but I lost my maran last fall and have been devasted since. She was the sweetest, caring super fun hen. I haven't had that same connection with any of my other girls.

That's funny that they're all holiday babies. Do you give them holiday-themed names?
