Arizona Chickens

Thanks! It's just your typical blue plastic 55 gallon barrel. I got it from 4Gs in Maricopa. It was $10. I also cut them & use them for feeders and water buckets for my horses. I guess I didn't take into consideration the cost of the nipples, but I already had them in use in the pens, so I didn't have to buy them. But to be fair you can add $17 to the cost since I paid $1 each nipple. Still not a bad price to water 40+ chickens!

Oh you went across the back. I like that.

ChrystalGail, that is a great waterer!

I can only imagine the amount of time you've saved yourself cleaning waterers for all those birds. Great job!

A quick storm-burst just passed over here in Tucson. If we have to get cold, at least give us rain!

Gallo: Thanks for the offer! I think she's set for now (unless the box doesn't last through the little bit of rain we might get tomorrow.)

5pinkarrows: One of my daughters use to say boofala for beautiful. She'd say it with such enthusiasm... "OH, it's SOOO BOOfala!" We often call her boofala now.

Gallo:Thank you also for posting this information about the nipple waterer. It's great info to have. I was a little worried about it too.
Maybe they spend less time at the nipple waterer because they don't have to "dip and lift, dip and lift". The water just runs down their throat. It must be more efficient for them.

Thanks for figuring that one out. I to worried about enough water for the summer. Must be okay.

I am interested in growing turkeys for meat....anyone see turkeys at a feed store or do you sell turkeys chicks?

My hatchery chicks came in this morning. AZKAT is taking a few, but I will still have 5 Buff Orpington pullets available. $2.75 each (actual cost + 15c for Marecks Vax) if anyone is interested in some layers. I also have one lone Olive Egger. If someone wants to buy the pullets, I will throw in an Olive Egger for free.

My hubby is law enforcement. He is a detective for Gila River Res. And you're right they love swapping stories!

That's neat, Chrystal! We even have 3 kids that are very close in age.

I would love a couple of polish girls, too. And some of those houdans and spitzhaubens you got there. My poor hubby is so in for it!
