Love all of the snow pictures!!! We just got a lot of rain, and it's near to raining again. It's good the chicks are in the bathroom ... their new coop needs a rain gutter before it is occupied! The roof is sloped so it all goes down the back, but about half of the back of the run ends up soaked (no puddles, just wet sand - put about 200 pounds of sand in). My husband is checking it out and going to go to Lowes and engineer some rain gutters
I was just going to put shingles on and extend the back a little so the rain went more behind it.
Where did you get the alfalfa to grow? That's what I have been looking for!!!!!!!!!! My chickens love the stuff and I hate hate hate buying that baled stuff if I could grow it for them instead. Fill me in please??????
Poor bunny. I had a lop when I was in college. My black lab ate it while I was sleeping. Yes, I was young and stupid to thing that dogs and bunnies could coexist.
I bought some seeds at the health food store. It is meant for making alfalfa sprouts.
I had an "indoor herb garden" that didn't sprout a thing. It isn't anything special, just a metal bucket with soil in it. I sprinkled about 1/2 teaspoon of the alfalfa seeds on it to see what would happen. I just left it on the South facing windowsill and watered it when I remembered.
My house is really cold because we have thin insulation and don't run the heat at night. I'm surprised anything grew!
I'm sorry to hear about your lop ear. I don't think this bunny is going to make it... I let him go and he can't hop properly, he falls on his side a lot. Something is wrong with his spine or back leg.
They'll probably love the wet sand, but what a mess. What a nice husband!
Very nice husband
)) We got the rain gutter installed, and are going to wait for the roof to be totally dry before we shingle it - have shingles all ready but need to do a little research since we have never done them before.
