Arizona Chickens

Incubator.. I wish a hen would go broody!! One of my dearest friends lost about 4 of her old hens.. We donated
18 for a shool project. Have 9 so far.. By next Monday I will know how many have hatched.. The teacher is keeping
the chicks till Monday .. 21 more at her home.. So far about 15 have hatched . Still waiting on the rest.. We have the majority going to new
homes.. Our neighbor came by and got their 10 this morning..
There is more black ones than other colors. They all have an extra toe, even the yellow leg ones..

I re- read this & it did not make sense.. 21 went to my dearest friends house. As of 4 pm today 14 hatched so far.. Waiting on the rest
When we candled them on Sunday 2 looked like duds.. So we will see by Friday.. Wednesday was day 21..

I am cleaning out my garden beds for summer planting. I am very late at getting my crop in. If anyone is interested in green stuff for your chickens or goats PM me.

What I will be pulling out is 25' Broccoli, 18' Brussels Sprouts, the last of my collards, about 5' of kale, 3' of broccoli rob, and 3' I arugula. I hate to through it out and I only have so much room in my freezer to give to my girls. I have some drying, right now storing is a problem.

I am in the North West Valley near Peoria and 99th Avenue.

So any of you out there want to have your own babies, just hatch some in a incubator.
Then one of your hen's will go broody..

There is nothing like hand raising them. They are just so much more adorable, docile and
you can teach them special words like bugs & treat.. What other words schould we teach them?
I have taught my girls the word "home". They will go back to their run when I say Home. Some rather stay out and "play" when I tell them Home. Just like kids. Just have to tell them a few more times.

Oh! That reminded me.. I do say come on,come on, when it is time to go in the front yard.. It is so funny to see them running
with their necks stretched out.. Like a runners race.. Thanks for that reminder?

You going to the county fair this year?

Shoot,!! I just saw a hawk chasing a bird..
We really need to get our side of the house done ASAP.
The wild birds have not found the chicken scratch.. Or the hawks..
If anyone has a couple of hours to come on over sat afternoon let
us know..

Oh on a better note, Loraine our speckled Sussex Is happily siting on her eggs..
She let me pet her.. :)

Wow, you're garden came in absolutely beautiful and lush! I haven't had the time to finish sewing the cloth wrap to put around our garden to keep the girls out, so my wife's looks extra empty. I think, for the most part, we've missed the main planting season this summer. I'll have to go back through the calendar and find out what will work. I got busy with the new coop all weekend, which is a good thing, since I'll be chicklet sitting 25 Speckled Sussex for AlohaChickens.

We're interested in some of your leftovers, too. It'll give my wife a chance to see your setup and ask questions if she wants. I'm definitely jealous, though!

This what it is looking like now, Thurs, Fri, and Sat, I hope to be able to be at the fair a few hours. I have family coming in also. What I will have is feed quality greens. I could meet at the fair grounds parking lot. I have to pull it today. I can put the roots in water, that should keep most of it fresh.
