Arizona Chickens

My new girls/boys.
700

I haven't named any of them yet. The Red Sex Link and the Partridge Barred Rock are pullets, therefore I can name them. The three Good Shepherd Barred Rocks I have to wait and see. I am keeping a pullet, the others I will have to sell, I so hope I can find a good home for them. I am starting to have a favorite twice I recognized her from the other two. :fl that it is a her. It will be easier to find a good home if they are all pullets.

I made a 3'x3'x2'h wooden pen for the girls with a make shift cover. It hopefully will work until they can go out side in the old digs. By then I hope to have the new diggs finished.

I have been working at my coop/chicken yard. I am painting the inside with an enamel paint that matches my house, I do not think my girls have an opinion. I want it durable so I can wash the interior if need be. I am thinking of not if but when for needing to disinfect the coop. I am glad to say I believe I do not need to put a wire tried down for digging coyotes. After 4" I have to use a chisel and hammer a 1/2"-1" at a time. It is going to take some time. I am going down almost a foot.

I like the box..
Did you still want the block from our neighbors wall? PM me with your number.. & I will give it to her..
Your number was on my old phone..

Doing another shout-out for FREE hatching eggs . . . I have some eggs here that are getting old, the oldest are about 2 weeks old and there are some that are one week old.

This is what you might get out of them:

Swedish Flower Crosses!!!

I just set about 200 eggs the other day, and I can't hold any more chicks in my brooder, even though there is more room in the giant cabinet 'bator. I don't want to eat them, and I have been selling quite a few hatching eggs, but I don't want to sell someone my OLD eggs, I'll give them fresh if someone is going to pay.

Okay, so the hatch rate is going to be less than stellar, but c'mon, they're FREE. I think there are 2-3 dozen? Not sure exactly, because I am totally out of egg cartons right now so they are in a big bowl. LOL! I'm in the SW Phoenix area - quick and easy drive from anywhere! (Except Apache Junction and Queen Creek. It's an easy drive from there but definately not quick.)

These need to go into a 'bator ASAP so drop a line if you want them! :)

Oh how I wish I had a bator ready. They are great looking.

Well, trying to get the beehive to migrate from the water meter box to the hive was a failure. Apparently, when I disturbed it yesterday, they opted to abandon the combs they had built and swarm. Maybe next time...

So I have some silkie/showgirl eggs on Tuesday, I figured I was almost done with the incubator, no problem if they sit on the kitchen counter for a few days..... four days later I have found out that I am possibly the worst electrician ever lol, is there anyone with a broody hen that would be willing to work something out please please please

So Daisy came home today. I went to pick her up from the farm after work. Brought her home and introduced her to Rosco and Boss Hogg. It has gone surprisingly well! They do peck at her a little. But it doesn't seem overly aggressive, they just sort of peck at her once or twice and then leave her alone for a while. I suspect she must have been getting pecked at at the farm too, because she seems totally unphased by it. She just runs a few steps and then goes right back to doing her thing. I put her in the roost tonight when I saw Rosco and Boss Hog heading up there. They all seemed ok. The neighbors invited us over for dinner, so I checked on them an hour later and Daisy was actually all snuggled into Rosco. Rosco was still awake too, so she clearly doesn't mind the arrangement. I'm really relieved that they seem to be getting along so well. And Daisy seems pretty happy and has been warming to me already. She came out close to bedtime and was looking for me, so I went in the coop, sat down and put her on my lap and we just hung out for a bit.

So far so good!! Fingers crossed it continues to be so smooth...

Here's a pic and a video...
