Arizona Chickens

I posted this and now can't find it here so I'll do it again. I'm old gimme a break.

Our sex-link 'Red' started laying last week, 5 eggs in 6 days! It seem she taught our Polish hen 'Phyllis' how and where to lay! Yea! Our first eggs.

Our slikies haven't started laying yet but I'll bet it won't be too long. They are 6-7 months.

We've had our birds for about 7 months and really enjoy them. We let them out of the run in the late afternoon and enjoy interacting with them. 2 silkie hens, 1 sex-link, 1 polish. 1 columbian wyandotte and 1 partridge rock hen that are a few months from laying.

I just wanted to show them off now that they are fixing my breakfasts.
Nice eggs!!!
It is best to store them pointed or small end down...the bigger end contains the air cell and if it is on top when stored, it is supposed to maintain the freshness/quality better and longer.

Im guessing that my hen had those eggs for a while because when i went to check on her i found 5 babies!! She took them out into the yard this morning and i caught her trying to steal the silkie chicks from the outside brooder! She was doing her best to get through to them! Two of the babies are a grey and olive green and the other 3 are a tan-ish color with brown spots. Coming from a white black-tipped japanese and either a white silkie or white frizzle roo. Im just ecstatic. Ill get pics soon!
